The tenth anniversary of the first in a long string of heavily law-suited games will pre-empt the release of GTA's 3D debut on "select new generation iOS and Android devices" (translation: dual-core android phones, iPad 2, iPhone 4S only) this autumn.
"Grand Theft Auto III showed us the potential of open world games," said Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games. "It helped set the vision for the company, and we have been expanding on those possibilities with every game ever since."
To see the re-birth onto mobile devices is going to be an interesting one. Will GTA III suffer at the hands of touch controls, or will it thrive as chinatown wars did? It was originally released in October 2001 for the PlayStation 2 and quite frankly, we can't wait to kill more hookers.
