We've received a personal insight, via Rupert Murdoch's Twitter account, into what the man on top of the world of News Corp thought of his organisation's Myspace conquests. The good thing is he saw it to be the catastrophe that we noted it to be also.
Many questions and jokes about My Space.simple answer – we screwed up in every way possible, learned lots of valuable expensive lessons.
The $580 million purchase of Myspace in 2005 turned out to be rather ill-fated, and inevitably ended with the corporation selling the product off for a mere percentage of the buying cost to multiple investors, including Justin Timberlake, creating a rather beautiful 'life imitates art' moment of irony. Could this Murdoch-burn cause a problem for JT's TV-orientated future of Myspace (debuted at CES)?
