'Star Wars Rebels' New Animated Series For 2014

Production has now begun on Star Wars Rebels, an animated TV series due to premiere on Disney Channel next year. The programme will be set between the events of Episode III and IV of the Star Wars series, a gap of almost twenty years with plenty of scope for excitement and adventure - though of course, the details are all very hush-hush.

Just guessing from the name, Star Wars Rebels may be about the beginnings of the anti-Empire rebellion and the early fights of the last Jedi's. Casting will be announced at a later date, but considering the show will  be produced by Lucasfilm Animation, perhaps some familiar faces will be  returning.

The team behind the series is headed by Simon Kinberg, of X-Men: First Class and Sherlock Holmes fame, as well as Dave Filoni, who worked on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will be an executive producer. Fans can breathe a sigh of relief that at least these people will know what they're doing.
