Facebook To Launch News Feed Ads Soon

Since Facebook went public back in May the goliath social network hasn't been having the best time. How do you get investers interested in a free service? Well, the company's new plan to draw in more investers is centred around getting those adverts we love so much slap bang in our news feed.

"We want to be thoughtful about how we introduce ads in news feed, so we have limits in place to ensure that people's news feeds are not filled with advertising." A spokesperson from Facebook commented.

Personally I see enough rubbish in my newsfeed simply from my Facebook friends (re: babies, washing machines, please accept my Treasure Pony Village invitation). Adverts are not another thing I want to ad to the growing pile.

Some services such as blogging site, Livejournal offer paid accounts that rid the user of ads and give you a few extra features. I've had a paid account for Livejournal for years now but I simply don't think I like what Facebook has on offer to pay for it.

It already seems that companies' attempts at advertising through Facebook seem heavy handed so what will this step up in advertising mean for the popularity of the site?
