Disney Builds A Tiny Robot Car That Can Drive Up Walls

Disney Research has been busy inventing some impressive, sometimes creepy innovations for a while. The latest innovation from the team is a small, four-wheeled robot called 'VertiGo,' which has the uncanny ability to climb up walls.

Built in a partnership between Disney Research Zurich and the university ETH Zurich, the car uses two rolls up to a wall and adjusts two propellers to push it up a wall. The VertiGo can climb up a wall at a surprisingly quick pace.

"By transitioning from the ground to a wall and back again, VertiGo extends the ability of robots to travel through urban and indoor environments," the researchers write about the project. "The robot is able to move on a wall quickly and with agility."

What will this be used for? No idea. Knowing Disney, this will be a piece of film merchandise in the future. Expect some kind of wall climbing consumer product in 2016.
