GTA III Storms Onto Mobile Devices, Lavished With Praise
Essentially defining the sandbox genre, GTA III reaped huge praise at launch, despite the subsequent controversy it provoked from mainstream news outlets and the general public. Here was a game in which players could car-jack ordinary members of the public, commit atrocious acts of violence and have unsolicited sex with prostitutes – far from the delights of other games from that year; Pikmin, Sonic Adventure 2, Ico. The critical hatred towards GTA still resides, though with much less venom. It's now a series lavished with awards from around the world for its grand settings and intelligent game design.
Marking the series' second appearance on the App Store – following Chinatown Wars – GTA III for mobile platforms finds the game's ageing graphics updated for HD displays and gameplay optimised for touch screen devices.
The title has already accumulated 155 ratings on the App Store (an average of 5 stars) and 539 ratings at an average of 3.5 stars for Android.
GTA III is available for £2.99 on both the App Store and Android. For a full list of compatible devices, see below:
