Can you imagine what it must feel like to be publically branded a pedophile? That's exactly what happened to the former Tory party grandee Lord McAlpine. Is it any wonder he wanted to clear his name. In the past, if your reputation was injured the law gave you the chance to sue for slander,or in this case libel. The problem is, how can you sue tens of thousands of people who use Twitter? Obviously you can't, and that's where the problem lies.

Apple Awarded Design Patent On A Rectangle With Rounded Corners

The US Patent and Trademark Office issued Apple a design patent on rectangular devices with rounded corners.  

Patent no. D670,286 pertains to the "ornamental" design of the iPad, and essentially covers a "Portable display device" that's a rounded rectangle.  While it will cover Apple's claims to innovating such a design, the usefulness of such a vastly broad patent is questionable.

UK PEGI Rating System Becomes Law

For the first time in a while I've seen a story in the main stream media that's about video games and doesn't make me rather angry at the sheer ignorance of aforementioned media. The PEGI (Pan-European Game Information) system will now be legally enforceable in the UK, meaning retailers can now be prosecuted for selling titles to those under age.
