After discovering a DSLR camera on the bed of the Pacific Ocean while scuba diving, Markus Thompson managed to return the camera to its owner via the use of Google+.

He was diving off the coast of Vancouver, in Deep Bay, when he came across a Canon EOS 1000D DSLR camera.  Markus recovered the images on the SD card, discovering not only that the files were still fully intact, but that the camera had been lying on the ocean bed for over a year.

He posted the story on his Google+, uploading the photos and picking up a couple unique identifiers from them.  Within the same day, the owner was found: a firefighter in British Columbia, which makes us wander just how long it'll take Google to crank out one of their many good-hearted adverts about this.  We haven't been so positive about the success of the service; but it seems sure that the people on there are pretty awesome folk.
