The Death of Horror

Boo! All I want is a good scare and recent cinema has just left me disappointed, yearning for the terror I experienced as a child watching some of my first Horror films. Modern horror films are a disgrace and simply let down the legacy of scary flicks. There is no subtlety anymore, everything is so obvious and cliché, Paranormal Activity might have had theatres screaming in terror but to grizzled horror veterans such as myself (I am aware how silly that sounds) it was a hilarious romp through a rather pathetic haunting. I want the tension of The Shining, the atmosphere of Psycho and the anxiety I felt watching Alien.  Horror films really have nosedived, or maybe I’ve just grown up.
