Apple accidentally releases "Gamestore" app, then removes it

Apple haven't exactly been 'on the ball' lately with keeping stuff under wraps, and today has been no exception.  Apple accidentally published an app titled 'Gamestore' to the iTunes app store, and removed it pretty soon after.

The app was discovered by Florian Schimanke on December 31st, and seems to be (as hinted to by the name) a store for games.  The description was rather sparse: "This application allows you to buy different things from within the app."  We're not sure as to the point of it; but it could lead to a Tegra Zone style store to sell specific games to more current models of iPhone.

Apple has, as of yet, not publicly acknowledged the existence of the app, and users who dispensed of $0.99 were greeted with a barebones shell that seems like a developer-targeted app.  They are now in the process of refunding customers who had previously bought it.  References to "F1 Grand Prix Track" and "Laser Gun" are there, suggesting that you add these items to your implemented shopping cart and checkout process.

Will we see this at the rumoured keynote later this month?  What will it's purpose be?  Is it actually worth doing in the face of their already being an App store category of games?
