Now Carphone Warehouse Has Leaked Google’s Nexus 4 Phone
Oh how we look back on more innocent times when the announcement of every long-awaited product under the sun wasn’t preceded with a long line of leaks. Yesterday, we saw the manual of the Samsung-built Nexus 10 show up on a Korean news site. Now, Google has had another of its products otherwise held back for the Android event on Monday leaked by none other than UK retailer Carphone Warehouse.
Manufactured by LG, a Nexus 4 pre-order page appeared on the retailer’s website and was up for several hours before the situation could be rectified. With it, Carphone Warehouse have managed to leak not just images of the handset itself and its release date (set for 30th October, a day after the event) but also its full specification and some of the features we can expect from Google’s Android Jellybean-powered phone.

Featuring a 4.7” touch-screen (the same size of the Nexus One X and just shy of that boasted by the Samsung Galaxy S3), the Nexus 4 purportedly has a resolution pushing 320ppi and is powered by a “state-of-the-art” Qualcomm-made quad-core Snapdragon processor running at 1.5Ghz and 2Gb of RAM. On-board storage for the phone on pre-order is apparently capped at 8Gb which seems fairly limited, especially seeing as though Google and LG has opted for the phone to be non-expandable, though a 16Gb version would surely go on sale at the same time.
Also sporting an eight-megapixel camera capable of recording Full HD video at 30fps on the rear, the phone too features a lower-res front-facing camera as is becoming standard. The Nexus 4, however, does seem to be neglecting 4G capability; though does appear to include, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Near Field Communications (NFC) support.
