EE Will Launch UK's First 4G Network On October 30th

EE has today announced that its 4G network will officially go live for public use on October 30th.  The launch will cover 10 cities initially, and will expand to cover a third of the UK population by the end of the year.

This follows Everything Everywhere's recent rebranding and unveiling of the nation's first 4G LTE network, which the carrier claims will be "typically" five times faster than your average 3G data connection you have currently.  The press release also names several compatible handsets with EE's service: the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S III LTE, Nokia Lumia 920 and 820, HTX One XL and the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE.

"This is a significant milestone for the United Kingdom, and for the people and businesses of our country who will now be able to enjoy the huge advantages of superfast 4G technology for the first time." EE CEO Olaf Swantee commented.

Pricing and tarrifs haven't been announced yet; but this new service will be available either to new customers, or existing Orange and T-mobile customers who wish to switchover from their current plans.  It may not be cheap; but being ahead of the curve never is.
