'WINE.' Native Windows Software Running On Android

If you haven’t heard of it before WINE is a compatibility layer that lets you run windows programs on Linux. Alexandre Julliard, its original developer, showed us today a semi-functional version for Android.

The demo itself ran very slowly; but this was claimed to be down to it running on an emulated version of Android instead of the real thing. A significant milestone, though it shows there is still progress yet to be made.

It did show that native windows software can be run on Android, with the future possibilities of having a full version of Office or Photoshop, even Steam games aren't beyond the realms of impossible with it. It also makes a real bridge between desktop and mobile, with application being able to run on both.
