The Whole Of Great Britain Recreated In Minecraft

Ordanance Survey, the company responsible for mapping Great Britain, has rebuilt the entire country in Minecraft.

All 85,000 square miles (200,000 square kilometres) of Great Britain have been created using more than 22 billion blocks by Joseph Braybrook, Ordanance Survey's summer intern. Using their OpenData project, he managed to convert their current maps into a Minecraft world with impressive detail.

To give you an idea of scale, each individual block represents 50 square metres of land. The various elements like Diamond, Emeraly and Gold were used to differentiate the various roads from motorways to simple B-roads.

The interactive 3D map is downloadable and ready to explore for anyone who owns a copy of Minecraft. Prepare to have your mind blown
