3D Printing Helps Restore Lost Visual Memories Of The Blind

Touchable Memories, a campaign set up by Pirate3D has shown how technology can be used to better lives, through recreating the memories of five visually impaired people by 3D printing some photographs from their past.

This social experiment demonstrates the connection between tactile contact and remembrance of old memories. Using a 3D printer to turn photographs of old memories into three-dimensional models, the results are incredible. Caressing and handling their previous memories, these visually impaired people immediately recall their memories in alarmingly great detail. It's a heart-warming reminder to not take life for granted.
