Short Film 'ReCURSION' Tells The Story Of The Worst Best Man Who Invented Time Travel

On the surface of it, ReCURSION starts off like any other romantic comedy: a best man trying to find a ring left behind. That is where all comparisons to the genre end, and take a deep dive into the world of science fiction.

The main character 'Sherwin' is a crackpot inventor who uses his creations to retrieve one of the most vital aspects of wedding day. This invention in turns holds its own obstacles, which come in the form of time travel.

Whenever the fourth dimension is involved, films usually create more questions than they answer. "Who?" "What? and "Where?" are just a few of the likely thoughts, creating frustration for the viewer. However, ReCURSION uses this paradigm to great effect. While this 20 minute short attempts to answer a few of these, it turns out you’re lulled into a false sense of security with a twist at the end leaving me wanting so much more.

The quality use of music and quick cut sequences ensures a sense of urgency and panic, which combined with the quality of acting, creates some extremely high production values for a short.

All of this praise has been reflected by others, as ReCURSION swept the awards on the festival scene. It is well worth 20 minutes of your time; perfect for anyone who enjoys their sci-fi with a twist.
