Petition - Please Bring SSX Back

When many people look back at the games of yesteryear that defined my childhood, SSX is at the top of that list. If you agree, we've made a petition for you to sign. If you're still skeptical, we've got a few reasons why.

EA Games tried to bring it back in 2012, which received lacklustre opinions. But now, in a time where media companies are relentlessly exploring their back catalogues to be part of the charmingly retro trend of TV, movies and games, it's time to return to the slopes.

And I don't mean the dark and gritty remake we got on PS3 and Xbox 360. A bold, brash and colourful return to the titles on PS2, Nintendo Gamecube and the original Xbox would be preferred.

SSX Tricky ranks high in the field of lightning quick arcade games with insanely high levels of addiction. Entire afternoons were wasted on the sofa, either developing my character (Eddie being my favourite) or consuming hours of multiplayer with my friends. This is not viewed through rose-coloured spectacles, as I found out by firing up my PS2 again - it remains a true gem.

To play devil's advocate to my own plea, it's understandable why they wouldn't want to make another SSX. After four years, the previous remake has sold 900,000 copies, which sounds insanely good but really isn't for big budget games. Business analysis will chalk it back to poor reception of the brand, but there were two key game design reasons to this.

First, a lack of offline multiplayer kills a key institution of the game. Second, the Call of Duty-fication of the game will turn any player off who remembers the colourfulness of days gone by. Not everything needs to be grey, and we are at a time when a departure from dullness is actively encouraged.

Learn from your mistakes and give us what we want. It may fly in the face of your erroneous analysis, but you're sat on the biggest name in snowboarding games since Cool Boarders. It's a guaranteed hit!

It doesn't matter to me whether it's an entirely new game or an HD remake of the originals, this return to former glory would be incredible.

P.S. If you want to work on Fifa Street too, that would be cool.
