BubbleScope And BubblePix Hands On

Panoramic photography has always had its difficulties.  There's always the strong likelihood that you may go too fast or too slow in one of the shot frames, leaving for an unwanted deformation of the picture.  Then there's the sight of a person spinning in one spot, looking like a fool and visually demonstrating just what you look like doing the same.

Well that's not a problem now, thanks to the Bubblescope.

Valve Working On 'Wearable Computing', Not A Console In Sight

Trying to sift fiction from fact is a job that becomes an almost daily ritual when reporting within the tech world. Speculation will start off relatively slow-burning, hit a crescendo of wild rumours and obvious fabrications at its height, and begin to tail off, just as the cycle starts once again. But game company Valve has chosen to put an end to the fervent rumours circulating all over the net about what many deemed to be its own home console – rivalling the next-gen Xbox, PlayStation and the Wii U – and capitalising on its grasp on the digital market with Steam, with a piece of hardware that can only be described as a 'wearable computer'.

Samsung To Unveil The Galaxy S II’s Successor On May 3rd

Given the hugely positive reception and the unbridled success of the Galaxy S II, which had accumulated 20 million units sold by February 2012, the S III fire has been burning brightly for quite some time now. In the past few months, we’ve seen mock-ups of the smartphone’s ‘final’ design – usually replete with some monstrously-large gleaming screen (the Galaxy Note?) and little to no buttons of any kind – allowed ourselves to become overly-excited by the round of rumours circulating the inter-tubes, and even seen what many considered to be the finalised spec sheet. Now, we have a set-in-stone date for it to be unveiled to the public.

Apple Fires Back At Amazon For Acting Like Apple

On Thursday, two days after the Justice Department launched a lawsuit against Apple and various big book publishers for alledations of ebook price fixing, the tech company have responded saying they have done nothing wrong, and slammed Amazon for their "monopolistic grip" on the market at the same time.

Hypocriticism?  Yes.

Better With Use: A Defence Of The HTC One S

So a few of the early adopters to HTC's new One S have made complaints about the supposedly strong back casing being susceptible to damage.  The micro-arc oxidization process may give it a toughness similar to ceramic and a strength beyond the need for a phone case; but with any form of ceramic comes a brittleness to the construction.  This has left the device exposed to chipping, leaving silver marks upon the section impacted upon.

Intimacy 2.0: The Dress That Turns See-Through When Aroused

The fashion world is one that tends to baffle us for the most part here at New Rising Media, but that's not to say technology isn't beginning to play a much bigger role in the industry. From 'smart shirts' that can read our heart beat and breathing rate, the integration of OLED flexible screens directly sewn into fabric, or even dresses that conducts its own power based on the movement of its wearer, the era of 'digital clothing' has seemingly only just begun.

Five Charged In Case Of Boy Who Sold Kidney For iPhone

A surgeon and four others have been charged for illegal organ trading in China following an illicit transplant operation which took place last year on a teenage high-school student, who since has been taken critically ill and is suffering from kidney failure. But this is no ordinary case of illegal organ harvesting: the 17-year old high school student was propositioned to undergo the surgery on an online chat room and had intended to use his profits from selling one of his kidneys to buy, and we're not making this up, an iPhone and iPad.

Google Reveals 'Project Glass' Augmented Reality Specs

Google have officially lifted the veil on their rather science fiction-styled Augmented reality eyewear, going by the name of 'Project Glass.'

The company's research division has created a Google+ page for the project, allowing to give updates on the progress of development.  While it has been said we could see these by year's end, even The New York Times said we could be seeing them this year for the average price of a smartphone, we wouldn't hold our breath for a release until at least 2013.

The Flying Car Is Getting Closer To Reality, 'Transition' Completes Test Flight

Imagine, if you will, being stuck in a tail-back miles upon miles long, no hope of moving past your 2mph average speed any time soon and your frustration with the motorway infrastructure of our country becoming ever greater. Then imagine pulling out of the traffic, taking your wheels to the hard shoulder and putting your foot firm to the floor, using the slip road as if it were a runway at Heathrow. Thanks to the Massachussets-based Terrafugia Inc, taking your car to the skies is no longer a distant concept resigned only to the pages of science-fiction novels and the visuals of films, the congestion-avoiding ideal is closer than you might first think...

'Stalking' App 'Girls Around Me' Pulled From The App Store

Despite a supposedly rigorous, rigid and reliable approval process employed to maintain the quality, security and legality of applications within its App Store, a mobile app that we have no reservations in calling a stalker's best friend has only just been pulled from Apple's store – and not even at the request of Apple itself.

Ashton Kutcher To Play Steve Jobs In Biopic 'Jobs'

Despite observing this particular piece of casting news on the first day of the fourth month of the year with much trepidation (we initially resigned it to our over-stuffed April Fool’s Day joke drawer), the news that Ashton Kutcher is to play Apple founder Steve Jobs in a biopic of his life – entitled, reservedly, Jobs – is in fact entirely genuine.

Google's Self-Driving Car Takes Blind Man For A Spin

First announced just two years ago, Google's self-driving car project is one of those that not only makes perfect sense, it's a wonder more companies haven't been pushing for the 'Auto' button for quite some time. Aiming to make driving “safer, more enjoyable, and more efficient”, the self-driving car has now completed over 200,000 miles of 'computer-led driving'. But thousands upon thousands of miles isn't important to the search giant by itself, instead Google wanted to show us one of its most inspiring trips...

Nokia Patents Tattoos That ‘Vibrate’ When Receiving A Call

Nokia’s fall from grace as one of the market-leading mobile handset manufacturers seemingly hasn’t led the Finnish phone company to reign in any of its far-reaching aspirations in innovation. The company has recently applied for the most unlikely of patents: tattoos that can sense when your mobile phone is ringing or has received a text message, literally ‘vibrating’ to let the handset’s owner know to pick it up.
