Life in a Day movie available on Youtube

Remember a while ago when Google put out the request for people to record moments in their life?  Well, neither could we; but the results are available on Youtube for free.

To somewhat diverge from the image of Youtube being merely a place for video game griefing videos and a general cute animal storage system, Google has taken it's quest a step forward by cutting through the over 4,500 hours of video uploaded for the documentary and created a 95 minute feature piece, that made the transition from cinematic spectacle to a free piece of consumer content in a scarily short amount of time.  Watch it below with 25 languages worth of subtitles (if you're reading from overseas).  That's just how nice we are!

Streetlife.com looking to reawaken British community spirit

In a time when David Cameron tries to push his vision of the "Big society" to no avail, it's good to see social good come to the rescue as streetlife.com is introduced.

Simply put, it's the local nature of Foursquare with the interconnectivity of Facebook, and the active transactional engagement of craigslist.  The team behind the site say their mission is to let users "create an online profile and connect with people, groups and businesses in their area, to share practical information, advice, opinions, skills and resources".

Nokia Lumia line announced + specs

It's basically an N9 altered for Windows phone 7.  Nokia have just announced the Lumia 800 and 710 at their Nokia World 2011 keynote, representing their first device on Microsoft's platform.

If there's one thing we can take away from this, it's that Nokia still make (arguably) the best phone hardware on the market.  You've probably already seen the N9 on the high street; but without the cartoon OS that is Meego and the Metro UI bringing some grace to the display instead, it manages to accentuate just how beautiful the hardware truly is.

Anonymous targets child pornography

So after taking down the likes of Sony and threatening the destruction of Facebook, Anonymous has turned its online vigilantism and activism to the world of child pornography sites.

The “hacktivists” are targeting web host Freedom Hosting and accusing it of knowingly hosting child pornography.  This marks a paradigm shift for Anonymous, moving away from hitting big corporate businesses in the name of anarchism to a more noble goal.

Obama gets a Tumblr

Caving into the temptation of Nigel Thornberry Gifs and 4Chan jokes that are a year too late, Barack Obama now has a Tumblr page for his 2012 campaign.

"We’d like this Tumblr to be a huge collaborative storytelling effort—a place for people across the country to share what’s going on in our respective corners of it and how we’re getting involved in this campaign to keep making it better." Proclaims the first Tumblr post that (yes) directly addresses the blogging service brand as if it were a real person (a rather annoying trait if I do say so myself).

See how the iPhone camera has improved over the years

So the iPhone started as a phone that didn't really break a sweat over making an effort on the afterthought they called a camera.  Fast forward to the 4 and we have something that takes stunning photographs, and actually has a flash!  But how much has the camera improved since the first inception?  This is a question that Lisa Bettany has answered.

Steve Jobs Biographer on 60 Minutes

We've already written our Steve Jobs obituary; but last night Walter Isaacson, official biographer of the Apple CEO took part in an episode of 60 minutes.  From what he says, it's obvious to notice that Steve really split the crowd down the middle of love and hate.  Whichever way you see it, you can't help but take note of the effect he has had on the tech industry.  We've got the show embedded here.

Google Engineer posts apology for "Great-Granddaddy of Reply-All Screwups”

“Last week I accidentally posted an internal rant about service platforms to my public Google+ account (i.e. this one),” Google engineer Steve Yegge writes in his apologetic blog post. “Bagging on the company, even in an internal memo, was uncharacteristically unprofessional of me. So I’ve been feeling pretty guilty for the past week.”

So what was this muck up of sorts? Not too long ago, he posted a 5000 word update on his G+ account (intended for internal employees which ended up going public) which really slams Amazon on it's flaws and Google's inability to understand platforms.

Lucky Charms Sifter keeps your breakfast awesome

I think it's unanimously agreeable to think that the single greatest cereal made is Lucky Charms (with Frosted Shreddies and Weetos in a close joint second).  But as is with all nutritional morning meals, the marshmallowey beauty is somewhat destroyed by actual cereal held within the confines of the box.  This is where we'd like to introduce Lombardi's Lucky Charms Sifter.
